I started selling at an early age with a company called Fuller Brush, which gave me my first taste of door to door selling. The money made from door to door selling gave me an opportunity to purchase the technology at the time - HI-FI (High Fidelity) - equipment in order to DJ "Rent Parties" in the community. My young teenage life consisted of playing sports, spinning music and gaining social awareness. Being small in stature I had to work harder at my sports skills (Baseball, Football and Track) than most of my contemporaries; which shaped my winning attitude resulting in city, county and state honors. I was also becoming known for promoting some of the best house parties in the city while selling magazines, encyclopedias and vacuum cleaners door to door refined my selling and negotiating skills.
In the 70’s and 80’s - I formed the first minority production company in Wisconsin "MaddLadd Productions" a booking agent for bands, fashion shows, models, educational films and of course mobile DJ entertainment. I was being heard in radio stations across the Mid - West, I was working with youngsters on fine tuning their sports skills and getting satisfaction with them being champions. I also was introduced to corporate sales giants such as R.J. Reynolds, Chrysler Corporation and Wisconsin Power and Light.
In the late 80’s to the mid 90’s my attention turned to public education as a High School educator, advisor and coach. I worked in four different schools systems (Trenton, Ewing, Red Bank and Franklin). Taking my passion for outstanding performance to inner city schools resulted in my students achieving outstanding grades in the classroom and champion student athletes in their respective competitive arenas. I also continued my entertainment skills focusing in on sports entertainment by being the "voice" for High School, College and Professional sports culminating to auditioning and winning the “voice” of Trenton Thunder AA affiliate of the Boston Red Sox 1992-1997, "voice" of Woman’s Softball at the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, GA and the "voice" of Men’s Basketball at the 1998 Goodwill Games in NYC.
From the late 90’s until today I turned my focus back on sales and sales education. The reason for the terminology sales education is that many sales trainers and their approach to this vertical market has more to do with motivational stories and tricks. They are very effective in what they do but leave the paying participant with little to no continuing substance to assess and grow from without attending another one of their functions. My approach is more trainee’ focused by utilizing curriculums that are NLP centered where sales theories are discussed, role-played and practiced/tested on real customers.
My future goals are to expand my sales training curriculums to all sales vertical markets, increase speaking dates around the country, write the great American novel which will be made into a big screen movie and work on being a radio talk show host. Brandon lives in Covington, GA with his wife Donna and granddaughter Kailee Lewis who is two years old and fabulous; she is on track for modeling, public speaking with future potential to be a lawyer or a national/international TV anchor.
